The stars of Superman & Lois are speaking out!

Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch addressed James Gunn‘s upcoming Superman movie, which will hit theaters in 2025 with new actors.

“We always knew this was going to happen at some point,” Bitsie said during a visit to Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic-Con 2024 video studio over the weekend.

“We didn’t go into this being like, ‘We will be the final Lois and Clark, forever.’ I wish the best to [Rachel] Brosnahan and [David] Corenswet going forward. I would have loved to play her longer, but didn’t work out that way. We’re lucky we got to go out the way we did.”

Tyler agreed, adding that “it has always been that idea of, we are carrying the torch, we’re going to pass it to the next people eventually, and that’s today.”

“There’s something really beautiful about that. I’ve always really appreciated that, in knowing that eventually it was going to be handed off to the next ones. I’m grateful for the years that we had with it and I’m excited to see what they do with it. I’m sure they’ll do an amazing job,” he continued.

They also teased the upcoming final season of their show, with Bitsie saying: “There are multiple deaths. You are so going to cry. It’ll be like cathartic tears.”

“You’re going to be a mess with this one,” Tyler promised.

“I know that everyone’s bummed that we only went four seasons, but I do want to just reiterate: We are grateful we were given a chance to wrap up this series,” Bitsie said during a panel at the event. “And also, I know, I’m online, I’ve seen a lot of https://www.justjared.com/2024/07/28/superman-lois-stars-tyler-hoechlin-bitsie-tulloch-react-to-superman-movie/#comments — I trust James Gunn and Peter Safran. I know them, sort of, they’re great guys, and I trust that whatever vision they’re enacting right now for the DC universe going forward is going to be awesome.”

Tyler added that since he was “only supposed to do two episodes on Supergirl when this first started eight years ago,” getting four seasons and the opportunity to end the show on their own terms has been a gift.

“Because that’s how it started, I always looked at it as just passing the torch to the next guy — it just took a few more years than I thought it was going to to do that. But I’m just really grateful to have been a part of this community, this family, these characters. I know that they mean so much to people all around the world, and that’s been true for, God, more than eight decades now. So it’s a special thing to be a part of… and now it’s time to pass the torch to the next guy, and I hope he kills it and I’m sure he will. So it’s in good hands.”

The final season premieres on October 17 on The CW.
