Meet Woman in Business Latosca Asberry, Founder of Be Self-Centered, Yoga and Meditation Studio

Latosca Asberry, third generation entrepreneur. She is a native of the Fort Worth/Arlington area. She attended Tarrant County College and Dallas Baptist University. Latosca has over 10 years of experience in finance and retail sales. When not showing families their dream homes you can find her in the community teaching yoga classes.

Her company, Be Self-Centered! is a yoga and meditation studio that is dedicated to providing practical and effective practices to support the personal and professional growth of real estate agents. Our mission is to empower real estate agents to achieve balance and success through the practice of yoga and meditation. We believe that by taking care of ourselves, we can better serve our clients and communities.  By prioritizing self-care and personal growth, we are helping real estate agents achieve greater success and fulfillment in their careers. We believe that by promoting well-being and balance, we can help create a more sustainable and compassionate industry.

This is Latosca’s interview

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do professionally. My name is Latosca Asberry and I am a certificated yoga teacher from the Dallas area. I have been practicing yoga for 7 years and teaching for 3 years. U teach stressed out real estate agents a well grounded yoga and meditation practice

What do you enjoy most about your profession and why did you choose it in the first place? What was the inspiration for your company/project? I enjoy being in the wellness industry. Everyone can benefit from a yoga and meditation practice and it doesn’t matter what stage of life you are in, My inspiration came from showing up on my mat.

Tell us about any new projects you have coming up (or recently completed). I completed one of my projects of accepting medical insurance and I plan to expand to other companies as well.

What is a typical day like for you? My day starts at 7am with prayer Bible study, meditation or simply just listening to music

Tell us about your community involvement – what you are passionate about outside of work and home and why/how you participate?  I recently joined a few friends of mine who feed the homeless on a monthly basis. I join them as often as  I can as a way to give back.

What is the biggest risk you ever took professionally and/or the biggest obstacle you have overcome? The biggest obstacle that I had to overcome is that not everyone sees value in your business and yoga is not everyone’s choice of exercise.

From where do you draw inspiration? Who have been your role models, mentors, etc? My inspiration comes from social media, seeing other yoga teachers helping other yoga thrive. Over the past few years, I have had the enjoyment of being under some great yoga business coaches.

What do you do to keep yourself sharp? What one thing have you done in the past year that has made a significant difference in your life/your business? Reading books on yoga, business, and self-help. Listening to books and podcasts.I stopped wasting money with popular people on social media.

What one thing would you like to learn this year? I want to sharpen my marketing skills

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Having a prosperous business

What do you do for fun/relaxation/entertainment? Hanging with friends, listening to books on business/self-help, and binge watching a 90’s TV show

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers? Having a yoga and meditation practice is essential to have.
