Haider Ackermann Appointed Tom Ford Creative Director

In the never-ending saga of musical chairs within the world of fashion, Haider Ackermann is announced as creative director of Tom Ford. The top creative position at the fashion label owned by The Estée Lauder Companies (upon Tom Ford himself striking a $2.8 billion deal in 2022), has been left vacant since July, subsequent to the sudden exit of Peter Hawkings. Hawkings, a long-term deputy of Ford himself was creative director for less than twelve months.

The appointment of Haider Ackermann might come as somewhat as a (very-much welcomed) surprise. Back in May, the revered Colombian-born French designer was announced as Canada Goose creative director. As of right now, it is not known whether Ackermann will remain at Canada Goose. Ackermann’s appointment at Tom Ford is effective immediately, and will be based in Paris. Mark your calendar for March 2025, and look forward to the Fall 2025 season of Paris Fashion Week when Haider Ackermann will stage his official debut as Tom Ford creative director. Already, the suspense is killing us.

“Very much excited for this! Must admit I am not all that knowledgeable about the work/aesthetic of Haider Ackermann, but do know he’s a very well-respected and admired designer. Major kudos to those at ELC for finding Peter Hawkings’ successor in a timely manner too.” [vogue28]
