Exclusive Cowboy Cartel Clip Previews Apple TV+ Drug Documentary
ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive clip from the upcoming Apple TV+ true crime documentary Cowboy Cartel, which follows the story of the takedown of a powerful Mexican drug cartel. It is scheduled to begin airing on Apple TV+ on August 2, 2024.
Cowboy Cartel comes from directors Dan Johnstone and Castor Fernandez, and tells the story of Scott Lawson, a rookie FBI agent from rural Tennessee that was part of an investigation that took down the Treviño brothers, Omar Treviño Morales and Miguel Treviño Morales, the leaders of Los Zetas, one of the most powerful cartels in Mexico.
What happens in the Cowboy Cartel clip?
The upcoming documentary consists of four parts. In the clip, Lawson and others discuss the ways in which the cartel would smuggle drugs via horses and other operations to conceal their crimes from law enforcement.

The docuseries also features interviews with Joe Tone, the author of Bones: Brothers, Horses, Cartels, and the Borderland Dream. Other interviews in the documentary include Lawson himself, IRS agent Steve Pennington, Assistant United States Attorney Doug Gardner, journalist Ginger Thompson, and police officers Steve Junker, Brian Schutt, and Kim Williams, among others.
