Disney shared a huge announcement about Princess Diaries 3!
Two decades after The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, which starred Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, premiered in theaters, it was confirmed that a third movie is officially in the works.
On Friday (October 4), the movie’s director and other crew members were revealed.

According to reporting by Deadline, Adele Lim will direct the movie. She previously handled Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon.
“As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life. We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide,” Adele said in a statement shared with the outlet.
The movie will also be produced by Debra Martin Chase with Naia Cucukov and Melissa Stack executive producing.
Disney has not yet revealed the movie’s plot, and it is not currently clear if Anne or Julie are involved. Earlier this year, the latter shared some bad news about the project.
However, another iconic actress from the franchise has expressed interest in returning.
