Explore a whole new realm in this entrancing music video from an artist known as “The Insaneum” or just simply Yosh. Pink Floyd is currently hosting a special contest to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their iconic album Dark Side of the Moon. Yosh Bauer, a German artist / filmmaker / animator, took a piece of the song “Eclipse” and created this Mucha-inspired, mesmerizing two-min sequence involving a spaceship & space traveler. It’s a fascinating look at just how much can be imagined when you dive deep into animation and let the colors and designs and lines all interact and flow and combine. It’s a personal project for Yosh, made entirely on his own in his spare time for this competition. There are many other entries (see here) but this one stands out and it’s being featured by many sites. I’d watch a whole series based on this story and this character in this video. Watch out – this is NSFW as there is some nudity. Rock on, Pink Floyd & Yosh.
And here’s the original video from Pink Floyd’s YouTube page announcing the competition + more entries:
Thanks to the superb Catsuka for the tip on this video, which is making its way around the web. Original intro from YouTube: “This is my entry for the Pink Floyd 50th anniversary animation competition.” That’s it. Nothing more. This animation competition entry is created by an artist / filmmaker also known as “The Insaneum”, or “Yosh”, who’s real name is Yosh Bauer – from Germany. Follow Yosh on IG @theinsaneum or find some of their prints here. You can also support Yosh on Patreon or find out more right here. With Kyoosh as clean-up artist. For more info on the competition, visit Pink Floyd’s official website. “The 50th Anniversary release of the iconic album will continue to be celebrated as Pink Floyd invite a new generation of animators to enter a competition, curated by Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell of Hipgnosis, to create music videos for any of the 10 songs on the iconic 1973 album.” To enjoy more shorts (+ music videos), click here.
