“What we visual, we can actualize!” An early promo trailer has been unveiled for an indie horror thriller titled The Activated Man, from filmmaker Nicholas Gyeney. The film is premiering at the Dances With Films NYC Festival in a few weeks, hence this trailer arriving now just before its big debut. After Ors Gabriel loses his beloved dog to cancer, the shock from the trauma produces strange vision projections that force Ors to wrestle with two possibilities: That his mind has fractured, or that it’s actually real… Drawing on the universal theme of grief with a twist that Gyeney’s work is noted for, The Activated Man stars Jamie Costa as an everyman who loses his beloved dog. His grief spurs disturbing visions that cause him to wonder if he’s dealing with the usual highs and lows of a painful loss, or if darker forces are preying on his mind. The cast also includes Tony Todd, Sean Young, Kane Hodder, Andrew Keegan, Vladimir Kulich, with Scott Brown as the villainous Fedora Man. I’m glad they don’t hold back showing this creepy fedora guy.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Nicholas Gyeney’s The Activated Man, direct from YouTube:

As Ors Gabriel struggles with the grief from losing his best friend and beloved dog to cancer, the trauma brings on strange visions only Ors can see. While he questions whether his mind has fractured or if it’s actually real – a mysterious rise in murder-suicides takes hold of the city, and Ors becomes haunted by images of a shadowy figure known as “The Fedora Man”. Through torments and terror, Ors must face his fears and confront ‘The Fedora Man’ as he uncovers dark secrets from his past, while finally embracing who he really is, and what he is meant to do. The Activated Man is both written & directed by Hungarian-American indie filmmaker Nicholas Gyeney, director of the films The Falling, The Penitent Man, Matt’s Chance, Beta Test, and Ultra Low previously. It’s produced by Kelsey Aho, Nicholas Gyeney, Jared Safier, Thomas Walton. The film is premiering at the 2023 Dances With Films NYC Festival as the Closing Night Film in December. No release dates are set yet – stay tuned for more updates. How does it look? Any good?
